Afternoon, now that we are in Alert Level 2, here are the golden rules.
1. Everyone can go to school and must follow public health rules. 2. Use the NZ COVID Tracer app if you come on-site. 3. Face coverings are optional in schools. 4. Stay home if you’re sick and call Healthline on 0800 358 5453 about getting a test. 5. Keep up those good hygiene habits: wash your hand regularly and thoroughly, cough and sneeze into your elbow. 6. Bring your own lunch and drink bottle. See you all tomorrow! At Alert Level 2, while there is low risk of community transmission, there are still a number of health requirements we need to follow. School will remain closed on Wednesday in order for staff to prepare for a shift to Level 2. To accomplish these tasks properly, we can only provide provision for the students who were enrolled in Alert Level 3 bubbles. Unfortunately, we are at our capacity for children in Alert Level 3 and are unable to accept any other children until Thursday.
There will be no distance learning email sent out tomorrow morning. Children can choose activities from previous sheets. Please do continue to monitor your own health and do not send your child to school if they are unwell. We will be following all recommendations from public health experts. This means we will regularly clean and disinfect high touch surfaces, encourage frequent hand washing and remind everyone to cough/sneeze into their elbow. Face coverings are not required to be worn in schools. The decision to wear a face mask in schools is a personal choice and that decision will be respected. If you do wish your child to wear a face mask, please ensure they know how to remove and wear it safely. We are really looking forward to seeing all students back on-site on Thursday 9th September unless they have a heatlh condition that requires them to self isolate. Staff will have ensured that the school is completely ready for Alert Level 2 restrictions. Please don't hesitate to contact your child's kaiako if you need any assistance. Ngā mihi Sally Kia Ora,
I’m sure you were all watching the update and are aware that we are shifting back to Level 2. Schools will be open from Thursday 9th September. This allows us time for appropriate cleaning and on-site preparation for Level 2 protocols. We are excited to see you all on Thursday 9th September and will update you tomorrow with more information. Take care, Christchurch East Staff We had a great turnout this morning to pick up the hard packs.
We will run another contactless pick-up time on Thursday 2nd September from 1 - 2pm for those who couldn't make it. These will be the same packs that were handed out today. We are in the process of preparing for a possible shift to Level 3. At Level 3, the key message is that if you can, you should keep your child at home. You should only physically send your child to school if you need to.
This form is just for us to gather initial information to support with staffing. This may change as more information becomes available from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education. If your child has a health condition that means they are at a greater risk of a severe illness you must keep them at home. If your child is sick please also ensure you keep them at home. This form is for us to gain initial information regarding your intention during Level 3. We will then need to work with Ministry Guidelines to develop a plan that sits within Health and Safety guidelines. Early indications are that these guidelines will be much stricter under the Delta variant. These guidelines will most likely include: - strict physical distancing - strict hygiene protocols - strict bubble conditions - strict conditions around the use of equipment Please use this flowchart to determine if you will be sending your child to school and respond to this survey. ** Please fill in a form for each child ** Complete the survey here Goodmorning everyone,
Alert Level 4 - School Remains Closed.
Mōrena,
By now you should have received another email with some ideas to support learning at home. Remember that you are the best judge of what you and your family can complete right now and we are aiming to keep screen time balanced. We hope you are doing OK at the moment – but it is also OK if you aren’t. As the Mental Health Foundation of NZ says, “it’s all right to feel a range of emotions right now. Going into a Level 4 lockdown is a big deal and it brings all sorts of different feelings to the surface, including frustration, worry and even gratitude. However you are feeling, know that you’re not alone – we’re all going through this together.” If you need to talk, check in with a friend or whānau member, or free call/text 1737 to chat with a trained counsellor. It's free and confidential. There are also a lot of other supports available to you, your whānau and your community if needed. You will also understand the importance of routine for your family. If your routine has been shaken up, it’s good to structure your time. Routines are reassuring and promote health and physical wellbeing. For our Pacific families, if you are not aware the Ministry for Pacific Peoples’ has been working to ensure useful information is available to Pacific peoples in nine different languages. As always, please let us know if there is anything you need to support you and your tamariki during this time. We hope to be in touch later in the day with more information after the 4pm announcement. Take care, Christchurch East Staff ALERT LEVEL 4 - SCHOOL REMAINS CLOSED
Kia Ora, I'm sure you were all watching the 3pm update and are aware that we are remaining in Level 4 until at least next Tuesday. This means that the school remains closed. Please check your email on Monday morning as teachers will send out some updated learning activities at 8.30am. Have a relaxing weekend and please contact your classroom teacher if you have any queries. Take Care, Christchurch East Staff Kia ora Te Whānau,
We hope you all made the most of the lovely sunny day yesterday. We are now waiting to hear the announcement at 3pm TODAY as to what will happen with the current Level 4 lockdown. Teaching staff are prepared for Distance Learning at either Level 3 or Level 4. We have a survey ready to send to establish the children of essential workers who will need to return to school if we shift to Level 3. We will be in touch as soon as we know more.
