Enrolment at Christchurch East School
All students who live within our Zone are entitled to enrol at our school.
Below you will find information relating to the enrolment process for your child.
Please note, there is a different enrolment process depending on whether your child is turning 5 and starting school for the first time, OR, your child is not starting school for the first time.
Please be sure to follow the correct enrolment process so that your application can be treated as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Proof of residency within the school zone is required.

At Christchurch East School, we have adopted Cohort Entry for new entrants starting school. This means that children will begin school with other students of the same age, after they have turned five.
There will be two Cohort Entry Dates per Term; one on the first day of term and the second at the mid-point of the term.

Once we receive your completed enquiry form and proof of residency, we will arrange an appointment for you to complete the full enrolment process. During this appointment, you will:

• Provide any additional required documentation (e.g., your child’s birth certificate or passport)
• Meet with our staff to discuss any specific needs or requirements for your child’s education
Step 5: Enrolment Confirmation
Once your enrolment is processed, you will receive a confirmation of your child’s enrolment at Christchurch East School.
Step 6: Cohort Visits
Our staff will provide information about orientation and cohort starting school visits, ensuring your child has the best possible transition to school.

- NZ birth certificate or NZ passport (if NZ citizen)
- Australian passport (if Australian citizen) or
- NZ residency permit or NZ student visa/permit and Parental work permit (if the child is not a NZ citizen)
- Immunisation certificate
- A copy of any Custody/Court Order Documents (if applicable).

To avoid overcrowding, or the likelihood of overcrowding, the board of Christchurch East School has adopted an enrolment scheme that has been approved by the Secretary for Education.
Under this scheme, students will be enrolled if they live within the home zone described below.
